Why I chose to go on exchange at CBS
People often wonder how to pick their exchange destination. For me, it was a no-brainer. I was dead set on going to Copenhagen Business School (CBS) because, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, it’s the pioneer in Business & Management Studies. I picked CBS over other options, like enjoying the sunshine in Porto, Portugal (no offense to those who went for the beach).
The moment I landed at Copenhagen Airport, my exchange semester kicked off with a bang. I stepped off the plane, feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety, and was welcomed by a friendly airport staffer who beamed at me and said, “Welcome to Copenhagen!” Her warm smile instantly put me at ease, and I couldn’t help but feel the love in this extraordinary place.
I had been to Copenhagen before and couldn’t wait to rediscover the city. With no time to waste, I headed straight from the airport to Kastrup Søbad, the open-water swimming spot that had stolen my heart during a previous visit. The cool water washed away my travel fatigue, and the sensation of returning to a familiar place was unbeatable.
Beyond soaking in the vibes of Denmark (and wow, do I bike a lot on a daily basis), I also got to experience the international vibe of Copenhagen Business School. The student crew was a diverse mix from all around the world, and the teachers also hailed from different cultural backgrounds. The diversity of cultures enables us to learn new languages, creating a valuable bridge between societies. This linguistic exploration fosters a deeper understanding and the potential for innovative solutions. Moreover, I would like to emphasize its top-notch education. It is all about quality instruction, very impressive guidelines regarding home assignments for example, creative teaching methods including student presentations with obligatory Q&A sections afterwards and high academic standards that pushed me to grow.
And then there is the CBS library (open 24/7), where I am writing these words, an amazing place, where time doesn’t matter. It’s not just a boring building containing books; it’s buzzing with workshops that help us students get the smarts and skills needed for academic success.
All in all, a great beginning as an exchange student in Copenhagen and I’m looking forward to seeing many more interesting places such as Møns Klint (chalk cliffs plus breathtaking science center) and once again Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Biking adventures sound just perfect (a smartphone app called “Shelter” is also really worth recommending).
